Paterson builders received first place at the 2014 HIA Hunter Housing Awards in the category of Green Smart Energy Efficiency for the Patonga Residence. This is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of our team.
The plan given to us by architects Carol Seymour and Jegi Jager was to create a simple Beach cottage which was not only beautiful but also extremely energy efficient. There is a main living area which is connected by walkways to the two separate bunkhouses, each having an ensuite.
The construction of the build was heavily carpentry based. This suited our team and we were able to perform all tasks from the footings, framing, window installation, cladding, roofing, decking, the internal floors, & fixout.
The environment we live in played a major role in the choice of materials used. The use of recycled products, natural materials as well as low energy rated products was a high priority. What evolved was a home that was rich in design, materials, character and warmth.
We enjoyed working with the owners & architect to create a project that provided a creative mix of materials giving a space that when completed exuded both warmth and character.
